Physical Fitness For Seniors
WELCOME!
Physical fitness for seniors is here to provide you with all the
health related fitness information you need, along with health and fitness tips for the over 40s.
Who Is A Senior?
Well being 43 years old I consider myself and anyone aged 40-65 a senior so this site is for you. I have put it together
because my own physical fitness was so very bad and at the age of 39 I twisted my spine and was unable to walk for 7 months. After
recovering from that (and promising to get fit) I continued to put on weight until at the age of 41 I had aches, pains and bad health
related issues that I didn’t want!
I will stress that I am not a medical professional and you should consult your medical profession about your health
and physical fitness for proper advice.
Physical fitness for seniors contains information to help anyone over 40 looking to get physicaly fit and wondering how to get started or what they can do. The good news is no matter how bad your physical fitness is right now and no matter what your age there are simple and easy ways to put yourself on the road towards good health. I started my recovery process by just walking for 10 minutes a day, now 4 years later I can walk for hours and love it! The site will include
health related fitness information including exercises, tips, and products that will help you improve your
senior health and fitness.
Health Related Fitness Age 40-55
There is a whole section on health related fitness information that will help you work towards developing your own senior fitness plan. If you think it is easy to dismiss your physical fitness because you are "only
40" think again. If you are leading a sedentary life you leave yourself open to experience all kinds of
health related illnesses and diseases as you get older. The older we get the more we have to work at maintaining our physical fitness.
I urge you to stop and think how quickly your first 40 years went - what makes you think your second 40 years won't go just as quickly!
If you are 40 or just over I hope this site will inspire you to seriously think about your health while it is still great
rather than wait for something major to happen. Middle aged women in particlar need to take care of their body because from 40 your hormone levels drop and insulin levels rise
which can cause sleep difficulties, weight gain and mood swings.
Regular exercise can help you avoid middle aged depression which is on the rise in women over 40.
As our body changes so does our confidence level and it is easy to indulge in something I call middle age body bashing! As well
as focusing on learning to love your middle age body in our confidence section and providing you with easy ways to boost your confidence, I will also focus on sexual confidence and hopefully change your perspective on the way you
see yourself and your body.
My wish is that you experience your more senior years (70s, 80s and 90s) in peak health because you gave yourself a
20 year head start when you were 40!
Health Related Fitness Age 56-70
I wasn't sure where senior ended and elderly began - I guess it is all relative to where you are right now. I bet if you are
69 you wouldn't consider 70 elderly!
In this section I will focus on ways that we can continue to maintain and improve our health whether it is by taking a
senior fitness test on a regular basis so that you can keep an eye on flexibility and strength or making sure you protect
yourself from illness by following healthy eating guidelines.
Continuing to have fun, laugh and enjoy laugh as we get older is something we can all attain. It comes down to our
perspective on life, how we respond to the events that happen in our life and what we choose to make of it.
